A breezy day in Breezy Point

On Saturday we ventured out to Breezy Point (Brooklyn) and meet my newest great-nephew, Jack Semelrath!
It was a bit of a blustery day in Breezy Point--the place truly earned its name!  We had a nice lunch with Chris and Suzy.  We took a walk down to the ocean, which was roiling from the effects of Hurricane Joaquin, which fortunately took a right turn in the Atlantic Ocean, leaving us with wind and some rain!!
Touring around Breezy Point, you can still see the effects of Super Storm Sandy.  While many residents like Chris and Suzy were able to rebuild, there are still houses that remain boarded up.
Surfers dream day!

The East Coast Trip of 2015

Our two week journey to the East Coast actually began on September 30, 2015 with an overnight stay at the El Rancho in Burlingame.   As has become our tradition, we had dinner with Patsy the evening before at Steelhead Brewery in San Mateo.
Thursday morning we made it to SFO early for our Jetblue flight...easy check-in....real easy security since we have TSA Pre Check.   Our flight was full, as seems to be the new normal.  Lucky me however wound up on the aisle with an empty middle seat!   The flight was rough and turbulent for the first hour or so.  Even the flight attendant went to her knees in the aisle, for about ten minutes.

Landed in NYC on time.   Air Train and LIRR to Mineola was a piece of cake, despite the rain.  Fortunately for us, Hurricane Joaquin took a sharp right turn in the Atlantic Ocean and avoided Long Island.  There  was still a considerable amount of rain.   Taxi to my sister Mary's house and we settled in after a long day of travel.
